Now that the Delta Gold card has a public offer for 50,000 miles as a signup offer on AmericanExpress.com, I am reading many comments on blogs across the Internet how some customers just applied for the card a day before with a signup offer of 30,000 miles. American Express does NOT match bonus offers after you’ve been approved. It doesn’t matter if it’s been just one day or even a few hours.
So here’s my tip to you: ALWAYS do a quick search to see if there is a better signup offer available before applying for a card. A simple search on Google would have pulled up my blog or reports on FlyerTalk that the Delta Gold card was offering a 50,000 mile signup offer before the public offer went live on American Express’ website.
Another example is the Citi Executive AAdvantage card. When the 100,000 mile offer was going on, the public offer on the website was anywhere from 30,000 – 50,000 bonus miles (I can’t remember the exact number.)
Mistakes are bound to happen in this game. All you can do is learn and move on. I hope that if you applied for this card recently, you were able to score a 50,000 bonus mile offer!
