Now that Citi has pulled the plug on the American Airlines 100,000 and 75,000 mile offer, I wanted to share with you the best deal available to date at the time of this posting. You can still apply for the Citi Executive AAdvantage card and receive a 60,000 mile offer after spending $5k within the first 3 months and receive a $100 statement credit. If you decide to keep the card for the first year, then this brings your annual fee down to $350 (normally it’s $450). You can cancel the card to receive a full refund on the annual fee, but it must be done within 37 days of the annual fee posting to your account. If you do cancel, you STILL get to keep your miles if you met the spending requirement and the miles posted to your AAdvantage account. I did this for the first two Executive AAdvantage cards I received from Citi (each were 100,000 mile offer with $10k in spending). As soon as I received the cards in the mail, I manufactured $10k in spending on each card within a few days by purchasing gift cards. When my first statement generated, the miles posted to my AAdvantage account and I was able to close each card and receive a full refund on the annual fee and keep my miles. I’m currently on my third Citi Executive card and I decided to keep this card. I’ll be using the lounge access a few times within the next year and I did see an advantage to keeping the card (I guess 3rd times the charm!)
In order to apply for the 60,000 mile offer, click this link (UPDATE: THE LINK IS NO LONGER VALID! JUST A FEW MERE HOURS AFTER POSTING THIS ARTICLE, THE LINK HAS BEEN TAKEN DOWN) HERE IS A NEW LINK. THIS IS FOR 50,000 MILES. I don’t receive ANY compensation from posting this application link. I blog because I enjoy sharing this information with all my readers.
This is still a killer signup bonus in my eyes. Within 60,000 miles you can go to Europe round trip flying Economy (30,000 miles each way.)
