I carry both the Citi Hilton Reserve and the Amex Hilton Surpass in my wallet. I manufacture spend $40k a year on the Citi Reserve card to earn Diamond status. I also earn 1 free night each anniversary since I charge $10k+ on the card. I charge gas and groceries on the Amex Surpass since it earns 6x points. Any time I book a night at a Hilton hotel, I’ll put the charge on my Amex Hilton card since it earns 12x points. The Citi Hilton Reserve only earns 10x points.
I received a promotional e-mail today from Citi that is offering up to 6,000 bonus points when you book a stay on your Hilton Reserve card. Here’s how the promotion works:
- Stay at any Hilton hotel or resort within the Hilton portfolio by February 28, 2015 and earn 2,000 bonus points.
- Book the stay on your Citi Hilton Reserve card.
- Earn up to 6,000 bonus points max.
- Don’t forget to click the “Enroll Now” button in the e-mail to receive the bonus.
If you carry the Citi Hilton Reserve card, be sure to look for this e-mail if you have an upcoming stay you need to book! I’m not sure if this is a targeted promotion or if it’s going out to all Citi Reserve customers. I can confirm that my partner received the exact same e-mail.
Staying 3 nights will NOT earn you 6,000 bonus points. You would have to book 3 separate reservations in order to qualify for the 6,000 bonus points. The 2,000 bonus points is per stay, not per night. I am going to Seattle in February, so it looks like Citi will get my reservation this time over Amex. Although Amex earns 2 extra points per dollar, the 2,000 bonus points that Citi is offering will be far greater.
