I was a little hesitant to apply for the US Airways Barclaycard, because it would have been my 12th card I applied for this year alone. On top of that, I haven’t been using my Barclaycard Arrival all that much. I’ve put a purchase on it here and there, but not more than 1-2 transactions a month.
Per the application link found here, I decided to give a whirl and hope for the best. I was instantly approved with a $7,500 credit limit. My Barclaycard Arrival’s credit limit is only $2,700, so I was a bit shocked to see such an improvement. Especially since I don’t use the Barclaycard all that much.
I’ve read reports online that if Barclaycard doesn’t see activity on your current Barclaycard, they won’t approve you for another one. My partner hasn’t used his Arrival card in months and he did NOT get instantly approved! So there may be some truth to this.
Like taking candy from a baby
This is by far the EASIEST 50,000 miles I’ve ever earned. The card only requires 1 purchase and payment of the $89 annual fee. I’ve read online that if you pre-pay the annual fee before your statement cuts, your miles will post right away instead of having to wait another month.
What will I be using my US Airways miles for?
The merger between US Airways and American Airlines will complete sometime next year. I’m thinking by the second quarter, American Airlines will merge US Airways Dividend accounts with American Airlines AAdvantage accounts. I have 125,000 AAdvantage miles right now, so to be bumped up to 175,000 will be even better! Let’s just hope American Airlines doesn’t devalue their AAdvantage program by next year. I think they’ll be too busy with the merger to adjust the program right now, but I could be wrong. I expect changes to the AAvantage program won’t happen until at least 2016.
Did you apply, but weren’t approved right away?
Don’t forget that you can always recon if you didn’t get approved! Call Barclaycard at 1-866-408-4064 and plead your case for why you should be approved. If you’ve recently been approved for a Barclaycard within the last 6 months, you may find it difficult to be approved for another one so soon.
How to Check your application status
This application status link is the official one my partner received after applying for the US Airways Barclaycard. It still says they’re reviewing the information and it may take up to 10 business days for them to make a decision.
This application status link I found on Google. What’s strange about this link is that it’s saying my partner was approved for the US Airways Barclaycard with a $10,000 limit. If this is accurate, that’s pretty amazing considering he barely uses his Arrival card!
